About the MRDS Data:
All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.
Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Geology): ORE IS FOUND IN THE DELAMAR OR MONITOR VEIN, EXTENDING 2700 FEET, WITH 5 MAIN ORE SHOOTS. DISTRIBUTION OF THE ORE SHOOTS FOUND IN CALLAGHAN, 1937 FIGURE 11. THICKNESS VARIES UP TO 300 FEET. MATERIAL OF ALL GRADES FOUND IN THE SHOOTS; GRADE DECREASED RAPIDLY BELOW LEVEL 10. THE ORE CONSISTS CHIEFLY OF A BRECCIA CEMENTED BY CHERTY QUARTZ, ALSO FOUND IN CHERTY QUARTZ VEINS AND ALONG BEDDING PLANES AND FRACTURES. MOST WAS OXIDIZED, WITH A REDDISH OR GREENISH TINT. ONLY THE HOG PEN ORE SHOOT CONTAINED FREE GOLD
Comment (Production): PRODUCTION IN 1894 BY JIM CROW MINING CO; IN 1895-1902 BY DELAMAR NEVADA GOLD MINING CO; IN 1903-1909 BY BAMBERGER DELAMAR GOLD MINING CO; AND IN 1932-35 BY THE CALIENTE CYANIDING CO, FROM TAILINGS.
Comment (Development): CAPTAIN DE LA MAR PURCHASED CLAIMS IN 1893 AND BEGAN THE ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT THAT MADE THE DISTRICT THE MAIN GOLD PRODUCER OF NEVADA JUST AFTER 1894. DELAMAR MINE REMAINED NEVADA'S BIGGEST GOLD PRODUCER UNTIL 1900, SHUT DOWN IN 1909. FIRST ORE WAS DISCOVERED BY A GROUP OF ITALIANS HEADED BY JOHN VIETTI WORKING ON A LEASE. LUCKY BAR CLAIM, LOCATED BY JOHN ROEDER, GOLDCUP CLAIM LOCATED BY JOE CONWAY, JOHN ROEDER AND CAP GARDEN. MINE OPERATED UNDER BAMBERGERS FROM 1902 TO 1909, BUT SHUT DOWN UNTIL 1932 EXCEPT FOR CLEANUPS IN 1911, 1912, 1913 AND 1926. IN 1931, THE CALIENTE CYANIDING CO WAS PREPARING TO TREAT TAILINGS FROM THE DELAMAR MILL. THE JACK BERRY LEASE ON THE LUCKY BAR (HOG PEN) CLAIM PRODUCED CONSIDERABLE SHIPPING ORE. DUMPS HAD BEEN TRENCHED AND SAMPLED WITHIN PAST FEW YEARS (AS OF 1983).
Comment (Commodity): A TELLURIDE(?) FREE GOLD.
Comment (Reserve-Resource): ONLY VERY LOW GRADE MATERIAL PROBABLY REMAINS IN THE MINE. HOWEVER, CAREFUL ASSAY OF THE ACCESSIBLE BRECCIA MAY REVEAL MINABLE BODIES. MOST FAVORABLE AREA FOR FURTHER PROSPECTING WOULD BE IN THE FOOTWALL BETWEEN THE DELAMAR AND APRIL FOOL VEINS.
Comment (Workings): MOST OF THE WORKINGS ARE NOW INACCESSIBLE. MAP OF ACCESSIBLE WORKINGS ON HOG PEN SHOOT AND ON LEVEL 10 AVAILABLE IN CALLAGHAN, 1937. THERE WERE 16 LEVELS ORIGINALLY
