The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Production): ASSAYS OF 19, 25, AND 39 PERCENT MANGANESE WERE QUOTED FROM THE LOWER ZONE. ALL OF THE MATERIAL IS TOO LOW IN MANGANESE AND TOO HIGH IN IRON TO BE OF SHIPPING GRADE. USGS QUAD SUTTER CREEK 1962, SHOWS UNIDENTIFIED SHAFT IN SW COR. OF THIS SEC. - HOWEVER, IT WOULD SEEM NOT TO BE THE LOCATION OF THIS MINE IF GEOGRAPHIC DESCRIPTION ABOVE IS CORRECT.

Comment (Workings): TWO OPEN CUTS

Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: EXPOSURES OF BANDED SLATY META-CHERT WITH BANDS AND IRREGULAR PATCHES OF MANGANESE AND IRON OXIDES. THE META-CHERT AT ONE OF THE EXPOSURES STRIKES N 50 W, DIPPING 70 NE. THE META-CHERT IS ENCLOSED IN CALAVERAS SCHIST. ORE GRADE IS 10 TO 35 % MANGANESE.
