Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: BELT OF METACHERT, 20' WIDE & SEVERAL HUNDRED FEET LONG, STRIKES N.35-55DEG. W., DIPS 60-75 DEG. NE; THE METACHERT IS GRAY WHEN FRESH, BUT IS STAINED REDDISH BROWN BY IRON OXIDE; IS ENCLOSED IN GRAY SERICITE AND QUARTZ-SERICITE SCHIST. CRUSTS AND LAYERS OF IRON OXIDE, AND SMALL QUANTITES OF MANGANESE OXIDE OCCUR ALONG FRACTURES PENETRATING THE METACHERT. OPEN CUT 45' LONG, 3' WIDE AND 4' DEEP, RUNS N. 25 DEG. E. INTO THE HILL; DOES NOT EXTEND BELOW THE SOIL.
