Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: QUARTZITE LENS 60 FT. LONG, AND 7 FT. THICK AT THICKEST PART IS ENCLOSED IN QUARTZ-MICA SCHIST. ROCKS STRIKE N. AND DIP 25 W. THE QUARTZITE IS PROBABLY METACHERT. THE MIDDLE 5 FT. OF CHERT CONTAINS SMALL AMOUNTS OF SLIGHTLY OXIDIZED RHODONITE, SOMETIMES IN BANDS WITH INTERCALATED QUARTZ BANDS, BUT USUALLY IN IRREGULAR PATCHES. NEAR THE CENTER OF THE EXPOSURE IS A VERTICAL VEIN OF MANGANESE CARBONATE 1 TO 2 FT. THICK.
