Comments

Comment (Production): MINED INTERMITTENTLY BETWEEN ABOUT 1914-1917 AND BETWEEN 1921-1935;AMOUNT OF PRODUCTION UNKNOWN

Comment (Development): LOCATED 1911; DEVELOPMENT BEGAN 1912; SECOND LARGEST AU PRODUCER IN PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND REGION 1915-1917; LARGEST AU PRODUCER 1924

Comment (Deposit): QUARTZ VEINS CARRIED AU, CALCITE, PYRRHOTITE, PYRITE, CHALCOPYRITE, SPHALERITE AND GALENA IN DISCONTINUOUS BUNCHES; VEINS CONTAIN HORSES OF CRUSHED COUNTRY ROCK; VEINS UP TO 6 FT WIDE, AVE. 2.5 TO 3 FT

Comment (Commodity): AG PRESENT IN ANALYSIS, PROBABLY ALLOYED WITH AU; PYRRHOTITE IS MOST ABUNDANT SULFIDE

Comment (Location): LOCATION IS PLOTTED AS ADIT SYMBOL ON VALDEZ (A-6) QUADRANGLE; 1951, WITH LIMITED REVISIONS, 1980. LAND STATUS VALUE CALCULATED 6-94 USING GIS OVERLAY ANALYSIS WITH BLM 1:2,500,000 SCALE OWNERSHIP STATUS MAP (1991).

Comment (Workings): EXTENSIVE UNDERGROUND WORKINGS PROBABLY TOTALED MORE THAN 1500 FT BY 1915; WAS MILL ON SITE; CURRENT CONDITIONS UNKNOWN

Comment (Geology): VALDEZ GROUP GRAYWACKE AND ARGILLITE GENERALLY STRIKES E-W WITH MODERATE N DIP; ROCKS HAVE BEEN FOLDED INTO COMPRESSED E-W TRENDING FOLDS,OVERTURNED TOWARD THE S, THAT HAVE AXES WHICH PLUNGE GENTLY WESTWARD; THESE FOLDS HAVE BEEN FAULTED AND CUT BY MINERALIZED QUARTZ VEINS THAT ARE GENETICALLY RELATED TO THE WANING STAGES OF GREENSCHIST METAMORPHISM OF VALDEZ GROUP ROCKS. GRAYWACKE INTERBEDDED WITH MINOR ARGILLITE.
