Comment (Production): AN 1878 REPORT STATES THAT THE VANDERBILT WAS PRODUCING $100/TON ORE. SPURR (1906) ASCRIBED $200,000 WORTH OF SILVER PRODUCTION TO THE POCATELLO AND VANDERBILT MINES COMBINED.

Comment (Development): ONE OF THE FIRST CLAIMS STAKED IN THE DISTRICT AND THE FIRST ON WHICH MINING TOOK PLACE. OWNED BY THE GREAT SALT BASIN MINING AND MILLING CO. IN 1865; INCORPORATED AS THE SILVER PEAK AND RED MOUNTAIN GOLD AND SILVER CO. IN 1866. PATENT WAS ISSUED IN 1879
