THREE DISTINCT GRAVEL CHANNELS; DEPOSIT IS EVIDENTLY THE REMNANT OF AN ANCIENT CHANNEL OR OLD BENCHES OF CALAVERAS RIVER. TWO OF THE CHANNEL RUNS HAVE A TOTAL WIDTH OF 350' OF GRAVEL, FROM 26-40' IN DEPTH. SLATE BEDROCK, GRAVEL TESTS $3 A CU. YD.

IN 1936 THE GRAVEL WAS TO BE MINED BY MEANS OF A KOEHRING GASOLINE SHOVEL; EXPECT TO TREAT 600 CU. YDS. A DAY.
