Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: TWO BEDS OF MANGANESE ORE IN META CHERT CUT BY THICK QUARTZ VEINS AND ENCLOSED IN YELLOW TO GRAY SERICITE SCHIST OR PHYLLITE, WHICH HAVE A GENERAL STRIKE OF N 20 TO 45 W AND DIP 60 TO 75 N.E. ORE BEDS ARE SILICEOUS ORE (MANGANIFEROUS META CHERT) WITH POCKETS AND LENSES OF HIGH GRADE ORE, CUT BY QUARTZ VEINS. ORE IS MOSTLY HARD BLUE-BLACK PSILOMELANE, SOME SOFT, BLACK PYROLUSITE AND A HARD BLACK CRYSTALLINE MINERAL. PINK RHODONITE FRAGMENTS FOUND ON DUMP. AREA HAS BEEN SUBJECTED TO FAULTING.
