Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = Reconnaissance surface observation and geochemical sampling has occurred at this site.

Comment (Commodity): Gangue = Carbonate

Comment (Geology): Age = Not known. Postdates or accompanies deformation of the mid-Cretaceous Kuskokwim Group along the Golden Gate fault.

Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Frost, 1990

Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Silica-carbonate Hg (Cox and Singer, 1986; model 27c).

Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Frost (1990) reported that discontinuous lenses of silica-carbonate rock are present along the Golden Gate fault near where it crosses Slate Creek, an east tributary to the Tuluksak River (Box and others, 1993). Quartz and several generations of carbonate viens, in many cases enclosing relict fragments of serpentinite, make up the silica-carbonate rock. Samples from this locality (Frost, 1990, table 1, locality 5) contain 1.9 to more than 36 ppm Hg.
