Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Bedrock in this drainage is a slaty metapelitic and metasandstone sequence of unknown but probable Paleozoic age locally intruded by altered mafic bodies (Sainsbury, 1972). The two USBM churn-drill holes completed at this location encountered 5 and 8.5 feet of gravel above bedrock. Heavy mineral concentrates from these drill holes contained a trace of tin and one contained detectable gold. The heavy minerals included pyrite, limonite psuedomorphs after pyrite, augite, magnetite, ilmenite, apatite, hornblende, and cassiterite.
