Comment (Development): DISCOVERER, OLOF OLSON COMPLETED MOST OF THE RELATIVELY SHALLOW WORKINGS ON THE VEIN PRIOR TO 1940. IN 1961 AND 1962, CALLAHAN MINING CO., UNDER LEASE AND OPTION, COMPLETED 5 DIAMOND DRILL HOLES TO TEST THE VEIN STRUCTURE AT DEPTH UP TO 1000 FT. DOWN. UNDER ASSIGNMENT OF LEASE AND OPTION, MID CONTINENT URANIUM DROVE A 1030-FT. CROSSCUT TUNNEL TO INTERSECT VEIN AT 350-500 FT. BELOW THE OUTCROP. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT ACQUIRED IN 1960'S BY SUNSHINE MINING CO. (2/3 INTEREST) AND MIDCONTINENT URANIUM CO. (1/3 INTEREST). CONSTRUCTION OF A 550 TON PER DAY MILL BEGAN IN MAY, 1981. OPENING OF THE MILL IS SLATED FOR MARCH, 1982, EXPECTED TO EMPLOY 60 PERSONS AT MINE AND MILL. IN 1963, MID-COntINENT URANIUM CO. ACQUIRED LEASES AND OPTIONS ON THE MOHAWK AND SANGER MINES; AND STAKED THE CLIFF GROUP OF 28 CLAIMS COVERING THE INTERVENING GROUND BETWEEN THE 16 TO 1 AND MOHAWK PROPERTY. THE GROUP OF CLAIMS OWNED OR CONTROLLED BY MID-CONTINENT IN 1964 FORMED A CONTIGUOUS GROUP OF 67 CLAIMS FROM THE 16 TO 1 PROPERTY TO THE MOHAWK AND SANGER PROPERTIES. Exploration activity was suspended in 1995.
