There are a few small lode-gold mines and prospects several miles south of Honey Lake in southeast Lassen County and eastern Plumas County. These include the Plinco and Honey Lake mines. The Honey Lake or Badger mine was discovered in 1900 and worked during the 1920s and 1930s. The deposits consist of narrow and shallow quartz veins in granitic rock, which in places contain free gold and pyrite.
