Inskip is in northeastern Butte County about seven miles north of Sterling City. The Kimshew district lies to the east and the Magalia district to the south. The area was active before and during the early 1900s.
There are a number of narrow gold-quartz veins in slate, amphibolite and greenstone. The are bodies usually are small but contain abundant sulfides.
