During the 1880s and early 1890s minor quantities of gold were recovered from the Silver Queen mine in western Sonoma County, five miles north of Cazedero. At this deposit there is a diabase dike up to 30 feet thick in schist that contains auriferous pyrite. Small amounts of placer gold have been recovered in the area.
