A note attached to the photo read: "When the water wagon comes to Greenwater. These horses drink $50 worth of water each day. The cobbler in Greenwater is also the fotographer. His studio in the foreground is too modest." An additional note states: "Greenwater’s water train, which hauled water forty miles to the town. The team consumed half the water making the trip, but the remainder brought fifteen cents a gallon."
