Comments

Located at the south end of Whisky Flat, on the northern slope of the Excelsior Mountains, the district includes the north-trending spur of the Excelsior Mountains that separates Whisky Flat on the west from Rattlesnake Flat on the east. The Territorial Enterprise (1866) described the Pahdet district as “35 miles due east of Aurora” and Stretch (1867) said the district lay “to the southeast of Aurora.” The 1880 map shows Pahdet to be in area of the present Whisky Flat district, possibly extending to the southeast. Schilling (1976) listed Sulphide as an alternate name for Whisky Flat.
