The Peterson is a copper and zinc mine located in Alaska.
About the MRDS Data:
All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.
Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Geology): Age = Cretaceous or younger; breccia zone in Cretaceous greenstone.
Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Martin and others, 1915
Comment (Reserve-Resource): Reserves = None reported.
Comment (Exploration): Status = Inactive
Comment (Deposit): Other Comments = Prior to 1953 Humpy Cove was known as Sunny Cove.
Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Cyprus massive sulfide (Cox and Singer, 1986; model 24a).
Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = Two tunnels each about 35 feet in length were driven prior to 1915. No assay results were reported (Martin and others, 1915).
Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = The mineralization is within a brecciated shear zone of Cretaceous Valdez Group greenstone (Tysdal and Case, 1979). The cement of the breccia is composed of quartz, calcite, sphalerite, pyrite, epidote, and chalcopyrite. A tunnel, 35 feet long, has been run along a shear zone that strikes N32W and dips 68 W. About 200 feet southwest of this tunnel another shear occurs which has been drifted on for about 35 feet. This zone is about six feet wide and strikes N12W with a vertical dip (Martin and others, 1915). No assay results are reported for this prospect.
