Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Exploration): Status = Inactive

Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Smith and others, 1975

Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = Surface exploration only.

Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = This occurrence consists of chalcopyrite disseminations in an altered intrusive rock that cuts metamorphosed Lower Cretaceous and Upper Jurassic flysch (Wilson and others, 1998). The intrusive rock probably is an apophysis of the quartz monzonite stock at the Gold Hill prospect (HE172). The stock is correlated with the Tertiary (63 and 55 Ma) Butte Lake pluton (Smith and others, 1988).

Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Porphyry Cu-Au (Cox and Singer, 1986; model 20c)

Comment (Geology): Age = Tertiary, assuming that the deposit is indigenous to the intrusive host rock.
