MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Exploration): Status = Inactive
Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = Reconnaissance mapping, stream silt and rock sampling (Reed and others, 1978; Reed and Nelson, 1980) are all that have been described here. Nearby float contains massive arsenopyrite with up to 0.45 oz/ton gold (Reed and others, 1978).
Comment (Deposit): Other Comments = This site is located within Denali National Park and Preserve.
Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = The area is underlain by Paleozoic argillite (Pzus) and Middle to Upper Devonian limestone (Dl) that are cut by the middle Tertiary (38 m.y.) granodiorite of the Mt. Foraker pluton (Tf) (Reed and Nelson, 1980). Disseminated pyrite, chalcopyrite and other sulfides occur in sheared sedimentary rocks. Nearby float contains massive arsenopyrite with up to 0.45 oz/ton gold (Reed and others, 1978).
Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Reed and others, 1978
Comment (Geology): Age = Middle Tertiary; mineralization is interpreted to be related to the Mt. Foraker pluton which is described as a 38 m.y. old pluton Reed and Nelson (1980).
