Comments
Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Johnson, 1914
Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = Explored by 65 ft adit along a fault that cuts both quartz and dike rock, and surface stripping prior to 1913 (Johnson, 1914).
Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Bedrock of Late Cretaceous metasedimentary rocks of the Valdez Group is cut by a Tertiary felsic dike. Two quartz veins up to 6 ft thick are found around the shattered felsic dike. Veins slightly mineralized with calcite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, and presumably gold (Johnson, 1914).
Comment (Deposit): Other Comments = Apparently an unsuccessful gold lode prospect. The Q. "&" Q. prospect (ARDF number AN132) may be another name for this prospect.
Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Chugach-type low-sulfide Au-quartz veins (Bliss, 1992; model 36a.1 ?) or Epithermal Au vein ?
Comment (Exploration): Status = Inactive
Comment (Geology): Age = Tertiary or younger, the quartz veins are associated with the felsic dike.
