The Westover is a copper mine located in Alaska.
About the MRDS Data:
All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.
Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Miller, 1946
Comment (Exploration): Status = Inactive
Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = More than 400 m of underground workings on 4 unconnected levels driven between 1911 and 1930. Channel samples across lode contain 50 ppm Ag, 2,000 ppm As, >2 percent Cu (MacKevett and Smith, 1968).
Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Basaltic Cu
Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Bornite and minor chalcocite, malachite and chalcopyrite in wedge-shaped pods, lenses, veins, and disseminations in lower 20 ft of the Upper Triassic Chitistone Limestone which overlies the Nikolai Greenstone. Largest pod 10 m long and 3 m wide. Limestone locally silicified near ore. Similar to Kennicott deposit (MC003).
Comment (Production): Production Notes = Minor production 1911-1920.
Comment (Geology): Age = Cretaceous
