The Green Butte is a copper and silver mine located in Alaska.
About the MRDS Data:
All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.
Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = About 11,000 ft of drifts and crosscuts on 8 levels, 1,500 ft of inclines and 2,500 ft of raises, winzes and stopes. In 1943, 500 ft level and lower levels were flooded and considerable portions of 100 ft and 400 ft levels caved.
Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Basaltic Cu
Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Veinlike replacement lodes and cavity fillings forming discontinuous masses of chalcocite and other copper minerals up to 4 ft thick in lower part of Triassic Chitistone Limestone, near contact with underlying Triassic Nikolai Greenstone, which is separated from limestone by a thin bed of shale.
Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Miller, 1946
Comment (Production): Production Notes = Reported to have produced about 1,500 tons of high-grade ore that contained about 1,200 pounds of copper and 10 ounces of silver per ton.
Comment (Exploration): Status = Inactive
