Daisy Creek

The Daisy Creek is a gold mine located in Alaska.

About the MRDS Data:

All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.

Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = Up to 0.0009 oz/yd3 Au in stream-sediment samples (Kurtak and others, 1992).

Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Placer Au (Cox and Singer, 1986; model 39a)

Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Chapin, 1918

Comment (Production): Production Notes = Some claims referred to as '...fair prospects...' (Chapin, 1918) but WORKED ONLY ON A SMALL SCALE BEFORE 1914 (Cobb, 1973). Problems in development due to shallow groundwater. Entire length of Daisy Creek worked.

Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Shallow deposits of gold-bearing, alluvial gravels overlie Jurassic rocks of Talkeetna Formation and Tertiary continental rocks. Up to 0.0009 oz/yd3 Au in stream-sediment samples (Kurtak and others, 1992).

Comment (Exploration): Status = Inactive
