The Cape Kubugakli Placer is a gold mine located in Alaska.
About the MRDS Data:
All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.
Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Smith, 1925
Comment (Production): Production Notes = Total estimated production was 160 ounces of gold from 1915 to 1925. Additional later production has not been reported.
Comment (Exploration): Status = Inactive
Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Placer gold occurs along a small drainage in a sinuous strip 8-10 feet wide (Smith, 1925). Bedrock is about 2 feet below a covering of gravel and large boulders. The source of the gold is apparently from gold-sulfide bearing quartz stringers in the area (see Cape Kubugaki Lode, ARDF No. KR002). The best pay was found just downstream from outcropping quartz stringers. Total production between 1915 and 1925 is estimated at 160 ounces.
Comment (Deposit): Other Comments = Site is located in Katmai National Park.
Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = From 1915 to 1925 a small amount of gold was recovered each year. The total amount produced was approximately 160 ounces (Smith, 1925). No production has been reported since that time.
Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Gold placer (Cox and Singer, 1986; model 39a).
Comment (Geology): Age = Quaternary
