Comments
Comment (Deposit): MAGMATIC SEGREGATIONS OF PYRRHOTITE, PENTLANDITE, CHALCOPYRITE, AND MAGNETITE ERRATICALLY DISTRIBUTED AS BLEBS IN NORITE BODY. ALL SULFIDE-BEARING NORITE LIES WITHIN 250 FT. OF NORITE CONTACT WITH GABBRO AND AMPHIBOLITE SCHIST BENEATH. TWO MAIN ORE BODIES ARE PRESENT, LARGEST BEING SOUTH TAKANIS 550 FT. LONG AND 200 FT. WIDE, AND NORTH TAKANIS, 200 FT. LONG AND 50 FT. WIDE. IN NORTH TAKANIS ORE BODY, SEVERAL MASSIVE SULFIDE LENSES UP TO 3 FT. AND 30 FT. LONG CROP OUT AT SURFACE.
Comment (Workings): 3 PROSPECT PITS TOTALING 238 FT., 2 PITS IN SOUTH AND 1 IN NORTH TAKANIS ORE BODIES.

Comment (Location): USGS B 931-F, PLATE 22; USGS MF-467, LOC. 1; USGS MF-1476 B, LOC. 3. LOCATION IS ON SOUTH TAKANIS ORE BODY. NORTH TAKANIS ORE BODY IS 500 FT. NW. LAND STATUS VALUE CALCULATED 6-94 USING GIS OVERLAY ANALYSIS WITH BLM 1:2,500,000 SCALE OWNERSHIP STATUS MAP (1991).
Comment (Development): OVER 100 CLAIMS STAKED IN AREA. MAYFLOWER AND PORTIA CLAIM GROUPS STAKED IN 1939. SEVERAL PROSPECT PITS DUG BY 1941, BUT NO DRILLING. NO PRODUCTION.
Comment (Geology): NORITE BODY UNDERLAIN BY GABBRO, AMPHIBOLITE SCHIST, HORNFELS. YOUNGER QUARTZ DIORITE IN CONTACT WITH NORITE. GABBRO, NORITE, AND DIORITE BELIEVED TO BE SUCCEEDING DIFFERENTIATES OF MAGMA OF COMPOSITE STOCK.
Comment (Deposit): NORTH AND SOUTH TAKANIS ORE BODIES THOUGHT TO BE CONTINUATION OF SAME MINERALIZED NORITE BODY AS EAST AND WEST TRIPOD, TUNNEL, SIDE HILL, AND NORTH AND SOUTH MUSKEG ORE BODIES 0.7 MI TO THE SE. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT
