Comment (Location): USGS MF-444, LOC. 8. PLACER EXTENDS UPSTREAM FROM LOCATION TO MOUTH OF ELEPHANT CREEK, AND IS CONTINUOUS WITH PLACERS IN DISAPPOINTMENT AND ELEPHANT CREEKS. LAND STATUS VALUE CALCULATED 6-94 USING GIS OVERLAY ANALYSIS WITH BLM 1:2,500,000 SCALE OWNERSHIP STATUS MAP (1991).

Comment (Development): DISCOVERED IN 1913, MINING 1914-16, INTERMITTENTLY TO 1938. MOST MINING DONE AT MOUTH OF DISAPPOINTMENT CREEK, LITTLE DONE ON WILSON CREEK ITSELF. DEEP GRAVELS NOT MINED ON WILSON CREEK.

Comment (Deposit): GOLD IRREGULARLY DISTRIBUTED IN LOWER STRATUM OF GRAVELS. GRAVEL DEPOSITS DEEPER THAN THOSE ON DISAPPOINTMENT CREEK, BUT NOT MINED. GRAVEL COMPOSED OF SMALL, WELL ROUNDED PEBBLES TO 8 IN. DIAMETER COBBLES.

Comment (Geology): AREA APPARENTLY NOT GLACIATED. ; MAJOR.UNITS: BEDROCK IS MESOZOIC-PALEOZOIC SLATE AND CONGLOMERATE OF GEMUCK GROUP, WITH TERTIARY GRANITIC PLUTONS NEARBY. ; REG.COM: SOURCE OF PLACER GOLD IS PROBABLY GRANITIC PLUTONS AT HEADS OF TRIBUTARY STREAMS. PLATINUM PROBABLY DERIVED FROM GREENSTONE.
