Comments
Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Epithermal vein, mercury-antimony
Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Bedrock consists of graywacke and shale in association with olivine basalt dikes (Sorg and Estlund, 1972) or flows (Reifenstuhl and others, 1984). Mineralization consists of veins of cinnabar 1 dolomite localized near faults in the basalt. Stibnite 1 quartz found as float fragments. Sorg and Estlund (1972) reported presence of hydrocarbons, dickite, and buddingtonite at Mountain Top.
Comment (Production): Production Notes = About 165 flasks of Hg produced from 1982-86 (Miller and others, 1989)
Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Sorg "&" Estlund, 1972
Comment (Reserve-Resource): Reserves = Sorg and Estlund (1972) estimate 200 flasks of reserves (produced 165 flasks from '82-86).
Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = Explored by hand auger and bulldozer after discovery in 1968. USBM drilled 7 holes (50 ft(15 m) in 1979.
Comment (Exploration): Status = Active
