The Hot Springs Dome Prospect is a silver and gold mine located in Alaska.
About the MRDS Data:
All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.
Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Commodity): ANALYSIS' FROM USBM SAMPLES.
Comment (Location): USGS MF-371, LOC. 6. PROSPECT JUST NORTH OF A LARGE BODY OF BIOTITE GRANITE THAT FORMS THE SOUTH SLOPES OF HOT SPRINGS DOME AND EXTENDS NW AND SE FOR ABOUT 10 MILES. LAND STATUS VALUE CALCULATED 6-94 USING GIS OVERLAY ANALYSIS WITH BLM 1:2,500,000 SCALE OWNERSHIP STATUS MAP (1991).
Comment (Deposit): THIS SITE NAME WAS CREATED BY THE REPORTER OR OTHER USGS EMPLOYEE BASED ON PROXIMITY TO SOME MAJOR GEOGRAPHIC FEATURE.
Comment (Deposit): LOW-GRADE MINERALIZED BELT IN SHEARED METASEDIMENTARY ROCKS PARALLEL TO A BIOTITE GRANITE INTRUSIVE CONTAINS AT LEAST 6 GOLD-SILVER LODES. BARRETT PROSPECT CONTAINS ARGENTIFEROUS GALENA, LIMONITE, AND MINOR AMOUNTS OF GOLD, HEMATITE, CHALCOPYRITE, CHALCOCITE, PYRRHOTITE, PYRITE, AND SECONDARY COPPER MINERALS, AND ERYTHRITE (PINK COBALT BLOOM). SURFACE ORE IS ESSENTIALLY VEINS OF GALENA AND POCKETS OF LIMONITE. NATIVE SILVER IN SMALL BALLS AT SURFACE OF LODE. NICKEL REPORTED IN PYRRHOTITE BEARING BASALT DIKE SOUTH OF BARRETT PROSPECT. SAMPLE FROM A DIKE THAT CUTS GRANITE CONTAINED MONAZITE. DIKES 3 IN. TO 4 FT. THICK CONTAIN AS MUCH AS 15% TOURMALINE.
Comment (Workings): WORKINGS CAVED IN BY 1931.
Comment (Development): EXPLORATION BY 3 SHAFTS ABOUT 20 FT. DEEP, AN ADIT 20 FT. LONG, AND SEVERAL TRENCHES AND PROSPECT PITS. CLAIMS ON BARRETT PROSPECT STAKED IN 1914 AND 1924; PATENTED, 1937. NO PRODUCTION. USBM DRILLED 8 DIAMOND-DRILL HOLES IN 1954 WITH A TOTAL LENGTH OF 3,198 FT.; DEEPEST PENETRATION WAS 515 FT., WHICH BOTTOMED OUT 446 FT. BELOW THE SURFACE.
Comment (Geology): GEOL.COM: MINERALIZATION ROUGHLY PARALLEL TO THE CONTACT WITH LARGE TERTIARY BIOTITE GRANITE INTRUSIVE. MINERALIZATION IN METAMORPHOSED JURA-CRETACEOUS SEDIMENTARY ROCKS
Comment (Deposit): MINERALIZATION SURROUNDS SUMMIT OF MANLY HOT SPRINGS DOME. EXPOSURE OF MINERALIZATION IS POOR. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT
