LAND STATUS VALUE CALCULATED 6-94 USING GIS OVERLAY ANALYSIS WITH BLM 1:2,500,000 SCALE OWNERSHIP STATUS MAP (1991).

Comment (Development): GOLD DISCOVERED IN 1898 OR SOON THEREAFTER; INTERMITTENT SMALL-SCALE MINING UNTIL AT LEAST WW II. DRIFT AND OPEN-CUT MINING REPORTED.

Comment (Deposit): GOLD IN UPPER 1.5 FT. OF BEDROCK. GRAVEL CARRIES LITTLE GOLD. GRAVEL 4-5 FT. THICK BENEATH 18-25 FT. OF MUCK. MOST OF PAY IN CREEK; BENCHES CONTAIN GOLD IN PLACES.

Comment (Workings): GRAVEL IS USUALLY FROZEN.

SURFACE OF BEDROCK VERY UNEVEN. ; MAJOR.UNITS: BEDROCK OF LOWER PART OF VALLEY IS DIABASE AND GREENSTONE; FURTHER UPSTREAM BEDROCK IS CHERT AND IRON STAINED TUFF; CREEK HEADS IN PLIOCENE (?) HIGH GRAVEL BENCH. ; REG.COM: GOLD THOUGHT TO BE RECONCENTRATED FROM THE EROSION OF THE AURIFEROUS GRAVEL OF CALIFORNIA BAR.

Comment (Deposit): STREAM GRADIENT 385 FEET TO THE MILE. WATER SUPPLY IS VERY MEAGER; CREEK USUALLY DRY DURING THE SUMMER. DISCOVERY CLAIM AT MOUTH. LITTLE MINOOK JR.
