Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = The area was mapped and sampled in the mid-1970s (Clark and Foster, 1971).

Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Clark and Foster, 1971

Comment (Commodity): Gangue = Carbonate

Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Cu-quartz vein.

Comment (Deposit): Other Comments = This site is within the Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve.

Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = This unnamed occurrence is near a high-angle normal fault between Paleozoic to Precambrian pelitic schist on the south and Paleozoic phyllitic argillite on the north (Dover and Miyaoka, 1988). The occurrence consists of chalcopyrite and secondary copper minerals in quartz and carbonate veins in greenschist, greenstone, and thin carbonate layers. The vein material is estimated to be less than 3 percent of the exposed rock (Clark and Foster, 1971).

Comment (Exploration): Status = Probably inactive
