Comment (Location): USGS MF-410, LOC. 77, 78, 79. PLACER MINES, LOCATIONS 77 AND 78, MARKED IN SE CORNER OF FAIRBANKS (A-3). COORDINATES GIVEN FOR MINE MARKED NEAR MOUTH OF AURIFEROUS SE TRIBUTARY. LAND STATUS VALUE CALCULATED 6-94 USING GIS OVERLAY ANALYSIS WITH BLM 1:2,500,000 SCALE OWNERSHIP STATUS MAP (1991).

Comment (Development): INTERMITTANT MINING, 1905 TO 1940. MINING BY OPEN CUTS. A FEW MILES OF DITCHES BUILT.

Comment (Deposit): GOLD IN BASAL 2 FT. OF STREAM GRAVELS. THICKNESS OF GRAVELS MINED RANGES FROM A FEW INCHES TO 6 FT. GOLD ALSO ON SURFACE OF CLAY BEDROCK. MOST OF MINING IN LOWER MILE OF CREEK; ALSO IN MIDDLE SECTION OF TRIBUTARY ENTERING FROM SE NEAR MOUTH AND IN SPOTS NEAR HEAD. IN LOWER MILE PAY STREAK 25-75 FT. WIDE, BUT OUTSIDE 25 FT. IS REPORTED TO BE PATCHY.

Comment (Deposit): STREAM GRADIENT RANGES FROM 100 FEET PER MILE AT MOUTH TO AROUND 300 FT. PER MILE AT HEAD. LOCATION DISCRIPTION FOR ENTIRE LENGTH OF GRUBSTAKE CREEK AND FOR TRIBUTARY ENTERING NEAR MOUTH FROM THE SE. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT

Comment (Geology): CREEK RISES ON RIDGE OF NENANA GRAVEL. ; MAJOR.UNITS: BEDROCK IN HEADWATER SECTION IS NENANA GRAVEL. BEDROCK FOR MIDDLE AND LOWER PART OF CREEK IS INTERBEDDED CLAY, SAND, GRAVEL, AND COAL OF TERTIARY COAL-BEARING FORMATION. ; REG.COM: GOLD PROBABLY RECONCENTRATED FROM NENANA GRAVELS.
