Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Basalt-hosted Cu

Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Brosge' and Reiser, 1976

Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Native copper and malachite and azurite stains are present at two localities in basalt that is locally amygdalordal. Azurite and malachite is present in breccia zone in Devonian or older dolomite overlying the basalt.??These dolomites are likely part of the Katakturuk Dolomite which depositionally overlies the basalt in which the copper is present. The Katakturuk Dolomite is considered Proterozic in age and hence the basalt also likely is Proterozoic in age.

Comment (Commodity): Ore Material = Copper (native)

Comment (Exploration): Status = Inactive

Comment (Geology): Age = Probably Proterozoic
