The Tiglukpuk Creek is a phosphorus-phosphates mine located in Alaska.
About the MRDS Data:
All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.
Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Exploration): Status = Inactive
Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Bedded phosphorite
Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Phosphate deposits restricted to black chert and shale unit of the Alapha Limestone of late Mississippian age. Phosphate rock and phosphorites occur within a section of interbedded oolitic to pisolitic limestone, chert, and shale. Marked variation in lithologic character of phosphate content. Fluorite was a constituent of all samples studied.
Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Cobb, 1975, USGS OFR 75-628, p. 53
Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = A 36 ft thick sequence averages 8% P2O5; a 43 in. thick sequence averages 21% P2O5; and 6 beds, none more than 5.5 in. thick, contain 30% P2O5. Samples analyzed for vanadium contained .04% - .10% V2O5. Samples collected by USBM contained up to 23% phosphate with 1035 ppm V.
Comment (Geology): Age = Mississippian
