Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Bedrock in the Offield Creek drainage is a schistose chlorite and mica schist assemblage that is locally intruded by small greenstone bodies (Sainsbury, 1972); the age of this assemblage is uncertain but it is probably Paleozoic. Although Cobb (1975) states that this creek has been extensively placer mined, primarily in the 1930s, Sainsbury and others (1969) did not show the location of placer workings. The character of the placer deposit has not been described.
