Allene Creek

The Allene Creek is a gold mine located in Alaska.

About the MRDS Data:

All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.

Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Cobb, 1975

Comment (Reserve-Resource): Reserves = Not defined; main drainage extensively worked for 1.5 miles

Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = Dredge and later dozer/sluice mining took place on the main drainage at about 200 feet surface elevation (Cobb and Sainsbury, 1972) and for 1.5 miles between surface elevations of 260 to 350 feet (Sainsbury and others, 1969).

Comment (Deposit): Model Name = ?Alluvial Au placer (Cox and Singer, 1986; model 39a)

Comment (Production): Production Notes = Not known

Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Bedrock in the Allene Creek drainage is a chlorite and mica schist assemblage that is locally intruded by small greenstone bodies (Sainsbury, 1972); the age of this assemblage is uncertain but it is probably Paleozoic. Dredge and later dozer/sluice mining took place on the main drainage at about 200 feet surface elevation (Cobb and Sainsbury, 1972) and for 1.5 miles between surface elevations of 260 to 350 feet (Sainsbury and others, 1969). Early mining apparently encountered fine, bright gold on a false clay bedrock but little is recorded about the character of this placer deposit.

Comment (Exploration): Status = Probably inactive

Comment (Geology): Age = Quaternary
