Vidlee

The Vidlee is a silver, zinc, and lead mine located in Alaska.

About the MRDS Data:

All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.

Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments

Comment (Exploration): Status = Inactive

Comment (Workings): Workings / Exploration = Mineralized rocks contain up to 25% Zn, 1% Cu, 1.5-2% Pb, 300 ppm Ag, 1,000 ppm As, and 0.75 Au.

Comment (Geology): Geologic Description = Occurrence consists of quartz veins and breccias hosted in shale and shaly siltstone of the Hunt Fork Shale. Outcrop of mineralized rocks is exposed along a stream drainage over a distance of about 25 m. It cannot be traced from this single exposure due to tundra cover. Mineralized rocks are primarily quartz veins and breccias containing galena and sphalerite, although chalcopyrite and pyrite are also present.

Comment (Reference): Primary Reference = Kelley and Mull, 1995, MF-2225-A

Comment (Deposit): Model Name = Pb-Zn quartz veins and vein-breccias

Comment (Geology): Age = Probably Late Devonian-Mississippian
