Mine Info
Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Workings): THE CLAIMS WERE STAKED IN THE 1970'S AND WERE PROSPECTED IN THE 1990'S FOR SEVERAL YEARS. AS OF 1998, THE VALIDITY OF THE CLAIMS IS IN DISPUTE AND IS BEING CONTESTED LEGALLY.
Comment (Production): POSSIBLY SOME GOLD PRODUCED DURING PROSPECTING AT THE SITE.
Comment (Deposit): FOUR PLACER GOLD CLAIMS WERE STAKED AT THE SITE IN THE MID-70'S AND THERE WAS AT LEAST SERIOUS PROSPECTING THROUGH THE LATE 1990'S. THE SITE CONSISTS OF GLACIAL BASIN MAY HAVE SERVED AS A NATURAL TRAP FOR HEAVY MINERALS IN A GRAVEL SECTION 60 FEET OR SO THICK (ORAL COMMUNICATION JOHN KATO, U. S. FOREST SERVICE, 1998). CURRENTLY (1998) THE VALIDITY OF THE CLAIMS IS UNDER DISPUTE AND IS BEING CONTESTED IN THE COURTS.
Comment (Location): FOUR CLAIMS STAKED IN A GLACIAL VALLEY ON AN UNNAMED STREAM THAT DRAINS INTO THE NORTH SIDE OF LE CONTE BAY ABOUT 2 1/2 MILES WEST OF THE TERMINUS OF THE LE CONTE GLACIER. THE CLAIMS ARE IN RELATIVELY FLAT SECTION OF THE CREEK, MOSTLY IN THE SE1/4 OF SECTION 14, T. 58 S., R. 82 E. BUT A PORTION EXTENDS DOWN INTO THE NE1/4, SECTION 23, T. 58 S., R. 82 E. COORDINATES ARE ABOUT THE CENTER OF THE CLAIMS.
Comment (Deposit): WITHIN THE LE CONTE WILDERNESS AREA.
