The Hub Mine is a tungsten mine located in White Pine county, Nevada at an elevation of 7,799 feet.
About the MRDS Data:
All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Commodity): AVERAGE ORE GRADE WAS ABOUT 1.4 % WO3 BUT ONE SHIPMENT OF SORTED ORE RAN 20 % WO3
Comment (Location): INFO FROM LAND.ST: 16060008
Comment (Reserve-Resource): THIS INCLUDES ORE IN SIGHT, PROBABLE ORE AND UNDEVELOPED POSSIBLE ORE IN 1912, MUCH OR MOST OF WHICH WAS PROBABLY DEPLETED BY SUBSEQUENT MINING.
Comment (Development): IN 1899 W. GABY AND W. BUNTIN LOCATED THE FIRST MINING CLAIMS AND MADE THE FIRST ORE SHIPMENT. 10 TONS OF CONCENTRATE WAS RECOVERED IN 1900 AND AN ADIT WAS SOON STARTED. DEVELOPMENT CONTINUED BY J.H. MARRIOTT (1900-1904), BY THE TUNGSTEN MINING AND MILLING CO. (1904-1909), AND BY HUEBNERITE TUNGSTEN CO (1909-1910), AND IN 1910 U.S. TUNGSTEN CORP BUILT A 50-TON GRAVITY CONCENTRATION MILL IN HUB BASIN WHICH OPERATED IN 1911, WAS RECONDITIONED IN 1915, AND PRODUCED 1915-1916. PLACER PRODUCTION OCCURRED IN 1941 AND THE DUMPS WERE REWORKED IN 1950 1955.
Comment (Production): U.S. TUNGSTEN OPERATED LODE AND PLACER OPERATIONS AND SHIPPED W CONCENTRATE IN 1916.
Comment (Workings): MANY ADITS,SHAFTS, PITS, TRENCHES. MAIN ADIT IS 1800 FT LONG WITH AN INCLINED RAISE TO THE SURFACE ABOUT 500 FEET ABOVE. VEIN WAS STOPED TO SURFACE AT INTERVALS FOR ABOUT 1000 FT ALONG STRIKE. DEVELOPMENT INCLUDES A 50-TON CONCENTRATING MILL AND A 6000-FT DITCH.
Comment (Geology): LARGEST ORE SHOOT WAS MINED BY A STOPE 70 FT LONG AND UP TO 60 FT HIGH.
Comment (Deposit): HUEBNERITE OCCURS IN 6 OR MORE NARROW QUARTZ VEINS RANGING FROM A FEW INCHES TO 5 FT WIDE. HUEBNERITE IS WIDELY DISTRIBUTED AS FINE GRAINS AND CRYSTALS UP TO 3 INCHES LONG DISSEMINATED IN THE QUARTZ AND AS VEINLETS AND LENSES UP TO 3 INCHES WIDE ALONG FRACTURES IN THE QUARTZ. MOST ORE CAME FROM NEAR-SURFACE STOPES ON THE HUB VEIN. ALSO, GOOD ORE FROM THE SIDE ISSUE VEIN. RICHEST ORE WAS IN 15-25 FT LONG SHOOTS. BOTTOM OF VEINS WAS NEVER REACHED.
