Satelite View

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Analytical Data

Analytical Data: ORE AVERAGE 3% CU. SAMPLE 2301 OF MASSIVE SULFIDE MATERIAL FROM THE DUMP OF THE ROADSIDE MINE ADIT CONTAINS 15 % FE, 5 % MG, +20+ % CA, 0.3 % TI, 5000 PPM MN, 150 PPM AG, 50 PPM B, 5000+ PPM BA, 1 PPM BE, 50 PPM BI, 200 PPM CO, 70 PPM CR, 2000+ PPM CU, 50 PPM LA, 50 PPM MO, 100 PPM NI, 2000 PPM PB, 20 PPM SC, 30 PPM SN, 700 PPM SR, 300 PPM V, 50 PPM Y, 3000 PPM ZN, 150 PPM ZR.

Materials

Ore: Chalcopyrite
Ore: Sphalerite
Ore: Galena
Ore: Pyrrhotite
Gangue: Quartz
Gangue: Orthoclase
Gangue: Vesuvianite
Gangue: Diopside
Gangue: Garnet
Gangue: Calcite

Comments

Comment (Geology): THE ORE CONSISTS OF CHALCOPYRITE, PYRRHOTITE, AND A LITTLE SPHALERITE AND GALENA IN A GANGUE OF CALCITE, GARNET, AND VESUVIANTE. THESE REPLACEMENT-TYPE BODIES OCCUR IN A LIMESTONE INTERBEDDED WITH A DARK CALCAREOUS PHYLLITE. TRACES OF SCHEELITE HAVE BEEN NOTED IN THE MINE WASTE DUMPS.

Comment (Deposit): THIS RECORD HAS BEEN MERGED WITH M231276, WHICH HAS BEEN DELETED.

Comment (Deposit): Discovery Year: 1860S

Comment (Location): SITE CONSISTS OF SIX PATENTED CLAIMS. LOCATED ON EAST FLANK OF SONOMA RANGE. THE ORIGINAL ADELAIDE MINE IS SOUTH OF GOLDRUN CREEK. THE MINE LABELED 'ADELAIDE' ON GOLDRUN (1981-PHOTO REVISED) TOPOGRAPHIC MAP IS ACTUALLY THE ROADSIDE OREBODY, AN EXTENSION OF THE ADELAIDE.

Comment (Production): GROSS YIELD: $11949

Comment (Development): OPERATED FROM 1860S TO 1940 AND YIELDED THE MAJOR PON OF THE GOLD, SILVER, COPPER AND LEAD PRODUCED IN THE DISTRICT. GOLD, SILVER, AND COPPER PRODUCTION BEGAN AGAIN IN 1980, WITH BULLION MONARCH CO. OWNING A 50% INTEREST IN M.ANDB. MINING CO. IN OCTOBER 1980, ABOUT 1000 TONS OF ORE HAD BEEMINED, STOCKPILED AND READIED FOR DELIVERY TO MONARCH'S 200 TPD FLOTATION MILL AT AUSTIN. INACTIVE IN 1984 (GARSIDE).

Comment (Deposit): SULFIDE REPLACEMENT OF MARBLE AND CALCAREOUS SILTSTONE. THE IRREGULAR REPLACEMENT OBSERVED IN THE TRENCH ABOVE THE ADIT APPEARS TO FOLLOW 'TRANSPOSED BEDDING,' (ROCKS ARE ISOCLINALLY FOLDED), ALTHOUGH THERE ARE NORTH-TRENDING HIGH-ANGLE (75W) FAULTS THAT MAY INFLUENCE LOCALIZATION OF SULFIDES AND LOW-ANGLE THRUST FAULTS ALSO APPEAR TO BE PRESENT. ROCKS TO THE EAST OF THE REPLACED UNITS ARE HARD, LAMINATED SANDSTONE AND SILTSTONE. THE CARBONATE-BEARING ROCKS ARE CONVERTED TO CALCSILICATE ROCKS CONTAINING A LIGHT BROWN GARNET. VESUVIANITE IS REPORTED, AS IS SCHEELITE IN THE MINE WASTE DUMPS, ALTHOUGH NO SCHEELITE WAS OBSERVED UNDER BLACK LIGHT IN THE COLLECTED SAMPLE 2301.

Comment (Workings): MAIN SHAFT 300 FEET DEEP ON SOUTH SIDE OF CREEK, AND ADIT 2000 FEET LONG ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE CREEK AND ABOUT 1 MILE OF UNDERGROUND WORKINGS.
