Comments

Comment (Deposit): Discovery Year: 1950'S

Comment (Location): LOCATION ESTIMATED FROM DIRECTIONS GIVEN IN ANDERSON'S (1980) REPORT. ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :1979

Comment (Production): PRODUCTION FROM 3 TONS OF ORE.

Comment (Deposit): MINERALIZATION SEEMS TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH CARBONIZED PLANT DEBRIS. FAINT TRACES OF YELLOW MINERALIZATION MAY BE URANIUM OXIDES. (ANDERSON, 1980).

Comment (Deposit): THERE IS A CONFLICT IN THE LITERATURE AS TO THE EXACT LOCATION OF THE MIDCONTINENT #1 MINE. HILPERT (1969) AND ANDERSON (1980) CONSIDER IT TO BE THE LUCKY STRIKE MINE. CHENOWETH (1974) AND MCLEMORE (1983) STATE IT IS A SEPERATE MINE, LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 1-1 1/2 MILES TO THE EAST. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT

Comment (Workings): WORKINGS CONSIST OF TWO LARGE OPEN-CUTS. THE NORTHERN CUT IS 300'FEET LONG BY 20FT WIDE BY 6 FT DEEP. THE SOUTHERN CUT IS 200-300 FT SW OF THE NORTHERN CUT AND IS 200-250 FT LONG BY 20 FT WIDE BY 6 FT DEEP.

Comment (Geology): DEPOSIT OCCURS IN THE AGUA ZARCA SANDSTONE MEMBER OF THE CHINLE FORMATION
