Comment (Deposit): THORIUM VEINS IN THIS AREA ARE ONE OF FOUR ENVIRONMENTS OF TH OCCURRENCE KNOWN IN THE POWDERHORN-IRON HILL AREA AND ARE PROBABLY RELATED TO EMPLACEMENT OF LATE PRECAMBRIAN SYENITES NORTH AND WEST OF IRON HILLAND OF YOUNGER LATE PRECAMBRIAN OR CAMBRIAN CARBONATITES AT IRON HILL. FOLIATION OF DUBOIS GREENSTONE COUNTRY ROCK TRENDS GENERALLY N 35 E, VERTICAL. PRINCIPAL FAULT CONTAINING SEGMENTS MAPPED AS QUARTZ VEIN TRENDS GENERALLY N 53 W AND CUTS ACROSS BOTH GREENSTONE AND SMALL ISOLATED BODY OF POWDERHORN GRANITE. COMPOSITE BODY OF MELASYENITE-AUGITE SYENITE-LEUCOSYENITE LIES 0.4 TO 0.6 MILE TO SE. PORTION OF VEIN IS COVERED BYOLIGOCENE TUFF.
