Comments

Comment (Production): THERE ARE NO OTHER PRODUCTION FIGURES AVAILABLE.

Comment (Workings): WORKINGS CONSIST OF A 3000-FT INCLINED ADIT, A 500-FT VERTICAL MAIN SHAFT AND A FEW SMALLER SHAFTS. THE LOWER WORKINGS ARE FLOODED BUT THE ORE IS SAID TO HAVE TERMINATED AGAINST A TRANSVERSE FAULT IN THE BOTTOM LEVEL. THE ADIT IS NOW CAVED 1300 FEET FROM THE PORTAL.

Comment (Deposit): Discovery Year: 1880'S

Comment (Deposit): THE ORE OCCURS IN A LIMESTONE REPLACEMENT DEPOSIT OF PIPELIKE SHAPE, ELLIPTICAL IN CROSS-SECTION, MEASURING ABOUT 60 FEET ACROSS IN THE WIDEST PLACES. IT FOLLOWS A PARTICULAR BED DOWNDIP ABOUT 3000 FEET. THE PIPE FORMED AT THE INTERSECTION OF A FAVORABLE BED AND A STEEPLY DIPPING, EASTWARD-TRENDING FAULT. THE PIPE IS SAID TO HAVE WIDENED NEAR NORTH-TRENDING CROSS-FAULTS AND IN OTHER PLACES IT PINCHED DOWN TO A NARROW VEIN. A COMPLEX MANGANIFEROUS GOSSAN WAS FOUND NEAR THE SURFACE. THE PRIMARY MINERALS ARE COARSELY CRYSTALLINE SPHALERITE AND ARGENTIFEROUS GALENA, A LITTLE PYRITE, CHALCOPYRITE AND ALABANDITE IN A COARSE QUARTZ-CALCITE GANGUE.

Comment (Location): LOCATION IS ESTIMATED FROM ELSTON'S (1967) DIRECTIONS. THERE IS NO UTM GRID IN THIS AREA. ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :1979
