The Dell #5 Claim is a fluorine-fluorite mine located in Juab county, Utah at an elevation of 6,099 feet.
About the MRDS Data:
All mine locations were obtained from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System. The locations and other information in this database have not been verified for accuracy. It should be assumed that all mines are on private property.

MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Deposit): IN 1954 WHILE BULLDOZING A ROAD, A LARGE PIPE WAS DISCOVERED UNDER 6-15 FT OF OVERBURDEN. THE DISCOVERY IS KNOWN AS THE RED PIT DEPOSIT. THE OCCURRENCE CONSISTS OF AT LEAST 3 PIPES ON A LINE THAT TRENDS N 70 E. THE LARGEST PIPE HAS BEEN MINED TO A DEPTH OF ABOUT 80 FT. IT MEASURES 140 X 150 FT. THE 2ND PIPE MEASURES 20 X 40 FT, A SHORT ADIT (35 FT) WAS DRIVEN TO THIS PIPE. THE PIPES TERMINATE IN SWAN PEAK QUARTZITE BETWEEN 25-100 FT BELOW THE ORIGINAL SURFACE. ; INFO.SRC : 3 FIELD OBSERV
Comment (Workings): WORKINGS CONSIST OF DOZER CUTS, ADITS & OPEN PITS
Comment (Commodity): CHIEF IMPURITIES ARE MONTMORILLONITE, CREAM COLORED DOLOMITE & QUARTZ
Comment (Deposit): 2 SMALL PIPES WERE EXPOSED ON THE E. END OF CLAIM. THE LOWER PIPE WAS STOPED FOR 15 FT ABOVE & 25 FT BELOW ADIT LEVEL, AND PRODUCED 420 T. THE PIPE IS IN FISH HAVEN DOLO. NO ORE CAME FROM 2ND PIPE
Comment (Location): SECTION SUBDIVISIONS NE 1/4 NW 1/4 SE 1/4
Comment (Production): THE ORE WAS HIGH IN SILICA & REQUIRED BLENDING WITH HIGHER GRADE ORE FROM THE LOST SHEEP MINE TO MEET MINIMUM METALLURGICAL REQUIREMENTS. ORE RANGES FROM 43-80% CAF2, 4.4-32% S1O2, 1.1-8% CACO3
Comment (Reserve-Resource): POTENTIAL DOES NOT EXCEED 500 TONS OF HIGHLY SILICIOUS ORE
