Comments

Comment (Production): MINE WAS WORKED INTERMITTANTLY BETWEEN 1863 - 1946 - IT LAYED IDLED BETWEEN 1909 AND 1942 . SOME ZINC WAS PRODUCED BUT NOT RECORDED.

Comment (Deposit): 1942 - 1943 U.S. BUREAU OF MINES PUT DOWN 5 DIAMOND DRILL HOLES TOTALING 4,258 FT. HOLE # 1 INTERSECTED THE 400 FT. LEVEL, # 2 ENCOUNTERED ORE, # 3 AND # 5 SHOWED ORE AT DEPTH, # 4 FAILED TO INTERSECT ORE, NORTH OF MAIN ORE BODY. GOOD INDICATIONS THAT THE BOTTOM OF THE SULFIDE LENS LIE CONSIDERABLY BELOW THE 550 FT. LEVEL OF THE MINE.

Comment (Deposit): ORE BODY HAS MAXIMUM STRIKE LENGTH OF 460 FT., IT HAS BEEN MINED THROUGH A LENGTH DOWN - DIP OF ABOUT 600 FT. DRILLING HAS PROVED THAT THE ORE EXTENDS MORE THAN 800 FT. DOWN DIP FROM THE SURFACE. ORE BODY RAKES NORTHWARD, PITCH ANGLE CLOSE TO 77 DEG., PITCH LENGTH ABOUT 900 FT.

Comment (Workings): EXTENSIVE WORKINGS

Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: THICK SERIES OF SCHISTS AND GREENSTONE OF LOW - RANK METAMORPHISM. GRADED BEDDING OBSERVED ON ROCKS DIPS STEEPLY EAST. CAPPING HIGHER, NEIGHBORING SAND, DIPPING WEST, - NO EVIDENCE OF DEFORMATION. THIS SEQUANCE LIES UNCONFORMABLY OVER OLDER ROCKS.
