Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: THE COLUMBIA, CATARACT AND A SIDE CHANNEL ARE SAID TO TRAVERSE THIS RANCH. 250' VERTICAL SHAFT WHICH PASSED THROUGH A CAPPING OF ANDESITE, LATITE, AND RHYOLITIC TUFF, BUT HAD NOT REACHED BEDROCK. A 50' DRIFT E ON THE 240' LEVEL ENCOUNTERED 12' OF GRAVEL ON THE W RIM OF A CHANNEL, BELIEVED TO BE A TRIBUTARY TO THE COLUMBIA CHANNEL. IN 1936 THE COMPANY PLANNED TO CROSSCUT THE CHANNEL, PROVE THE EASTERN RIM, THEN SINK TO BEDROCK. PAY GRAVEL SAID TO AVERAGE $3-$5 PER TON.
