Comment (Production): ACTIVE DURING 1880'S AND AGAIN AROUND 1915. VOLO MNG. CO. LEASED PROPERTY IN 1940 AND DURING 1941-42 SOME GOLD ORE MINED ON EXPERIMENTAL BASIS. SHUT DOWN IN 1942 BUT MILL REMAINED ACTIVE. REOPENED IN 1946 AND OPERATED ALMOST CONTINUOUSLY UNTIL 1953.
Comment (Workings): ORIGINALLY WORKED BY 135-FT. SHAFT, 400 FT. CROSSCUT ADIT, 300 FT. DRIFT S AND 200-FT. DRIFT NORTH. AFTER 1940, WORKED BY OPEN CUT NOW ABOUT 1,000 FT. LONG 100 TO 150 FT. WIDE AND 20 TO 50 FT. DEEP.
Comment (Deposit): WORKED AS UNDERGROUND MINE UNTIL 1940. PYRITE, CALCITE AND TALC ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE GOLD. ORE IS LOW GRADE, CONTAINING $2 TO $4 PER TON. DEPOSIT CONTAINS SEAMS OF SECONDARY ALBITE AND QUARTZ AS WELL AS A FEW BASIC DIKES. RICH POCKETS OF FREE GOLD HAVE BEEN FOUND.
