Comment (Deposit): APPRECIABLE AMOUNTS OF GALENA AND PYRITE, WITH SPHALERITE, CHALCOPYRITE STIBNITE, AND ARSENOPYRITE ARE PRESENT IN THE ORE. ABOUT 10,000 LB. OF LEAD AND SOME COPPER PRODUCED 1928-1951, IN ADDITION TO GOLD-SILVER. WORKINGS SHOWN IN W1/2 NW1/4 SEC. 3 ON USGS QUAD. SLY PARK, CALIF. 1953

Comment (Production): ACTIVE DURING 1880'S AND IN 1894 AS THE MELTON MINE; REOPENED IN 1928 AS MIDDLE END MINE AND OPERATED ALMOST CONTINUOUSLY UNTIL 1942. OPERATED BY COSUMNES MINES INC. FROM 1945-1950 WHEN PURCHASED BY PRESENT OWNER. DURING LAST YEARS OF OPERATION ORE CONTAINED AS MUCH AS $25 PER TON IN GOLD AND SULFIDE CONCENTRATES YIELDED FROM $100 TO $200 PER TON IN GOLD.
