MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. The satellite view offers a quick glimpse as to whether the MRDS location corresponds to visible mine remains.

Comments
Comment (Production): SOME 75 TONS OF ORE WAS SHIPPED IN 1918. IDLE. HIGH GRADE OXIDE ORE IN RED JASPER BEDS NEAR SERP.CONTACT. BEDS STRIKE NW; DIP NEARLY VERTICAL. THE ORE DOES NOT OUTCROP BUT JASPER WITH MN STAINS OUTCROPS 300' SE.
Comment (Workings): SHAFT, DRIFT, THREE CUTS.
Comment (Location): LOCATED IN SE 1/4 SECTION 6 , UTM APPROX ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :UNDETERMINED
Comment (Deposit): PROSPECT ON MF-279. IT SEEMS POSSIBLE THAT MOST OF THE ORE MAY HAVE BEEN REMOVED. ONLY 5 OR 10 TONS ARE IN SIGHT. SOME OF THE ORE SEEN MIGHT RUN 50 PERCENT MANGANESE BUT MOST OF THE MATERIAL EXPOSED CONTAINS YELLOW-BROWN CHERT WHICH WOULD LOWER THE GRADE CONSIDERABLY.
Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: BLACK OXIDE ORE OCCURS IN POCKETS AND IRREGULAR MASSES IN MASSIVE, YELLOW-BROWN QUARTZOSE CHERT. THE ORE IS PSILOMELANE AND INCLUDES PYROLUSITE. THE MASSIVE CHERT IS OVERLAIN BY THIN-BEDDED GREEN CHERT, MIXED WITH SOME WHITE AND RED CHERT. THE CHERT IS BOUND BY A FAULT CONTACT WITH SHALE AND SANDSTONE.
