Comments
Comment (Location): LOCATION APPROXIMATE, UTM APPROX. ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :UNDETERMINED
Comment (Production): FIRST CARLOAD SHIPPED IN OCT. 1958 AND 15 CARLOADS HAVE BEEN SHIPPED SINCE, OF HAND SORTED, HIGH GRADE MANGANESE, ORE RUNNING ABOUT 42 PERCENT MANGANESE, 6 PERCENT IRON, LESS THAN 15 PERCENT SILICA.
Comment (Workings): OPEN CUT, WORKING FACE EXPOSED WAS ABOUT 125 FT. WIDE AND 200 FT. HIGH.
Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: BED OF REDDISH-BROWN OXIDE, HAUSMANNITE, IS INTERBEDDED WITH SEDIMENTARY ROCK OF THE FRANCISCAN FORMATION. THE ORE BED IS 6 TO 10 FT THICK, STRIKES N AND DIPS 50 E. THE HAUSMANNITE IS OVERLAIN BY PYRITE-BEARING RED CHERT AND A THICK SEQUENCE OF THIN-BEDDED GRAY SHALE. HAUSMANNITE IS ASSOCIATED WITH BLACK MANGANESE OXIDE, DULL PINK MANGANESE CARBONATE, NEOTOCITE AND BEMENTITE.
Comment (Deposit): THE HAUSMANNITE IS OVERLAIN BY PYRITE-BEARING RED CHERT AND A THICK SEQUENCE OF THIN-BEDDED GRAY SHALE. IT IS ASSOC. WITH BLACK MANGANESE OXIDE, DULL PINK MANGANESE CARBONATE A MANGANESE SILICATE IDENTIFIED AS NEOTOCITE, AND BEMENTITE.
