Satelite View
MRDS mine locations are often very general, and in some cases are incorrect. Some mine remains have been covered or removed by modern industrial activity or by development of things like housing. Comments
Comment (Deposit): THE COURSE IS INDICATED BY A SERIES OF SMALL HILLS CAPPED WITH ANDESITE UNDER WHICH GRAVEL HAS BEEN MINED IN SEVERAL PLACES. HERE, SOME 2 1/2 MILES IN LENGTH OF THE ANCIENT GRAVEL IS EXPOSED, LYING BELOW THE PRESENT DRAINAGE.
Comment (Production): WORK WAS BEGINNING HERE IN 1935.
Comment (Geology): GEOL.DESC: REMNANTS OF BOTH EARLY AND LATE TERTIARY GRAVEL DEPOSITS, LEFT BY THE PREHISTORIC AMERICAN RIVER THAT WERE MINED AT THE HASKELL (SECS. 21, 28-12N-8E) APPARENTLY AT ONE TIME EXTENDED FROM THERE TO THE OLD BARTON AND LAIRD DRIFT MINES (SEC. 22, 27? THIS TP) BUT INTERVENING DISTANCE APPARENTLY ERODED TO THE EXPOSED GRANODIORITE.
